Hunt County Fair and Livestock Show

The Hunt County Fair and Livestock Show is an annual event held in Greenville, Texas, focused on the youth, agricultural, educational, economic, cultural, and institutional strengths of the area. The Fair features livestock shows, live music, events for kids, and many exhibits, demonstrations, and contests. It promotes agricultural growth and awareness through educational programs and competitions and supports the education of local children by providing scholarships. It's an excellent opportunity to experience local culture, enjoy various forms of entertainment, and support the community.

The Fair is open from April 18 through April 27 at the Hunt County Fairgrounds, 9800 Jack Finney Blvd., Greenville.

HCW supports our community through our participation while offereing us the opportunity to show the public what we do.  Our demonstrations are popular with fairgoers as we demonstrate the art of woodturning.  We turn and give away Freedom Pens to active and non-active military members, as well as occasionally other turned items to the public.

Our booth is located in front of the Creative Arts building.  Finished woodturned items will be displayed in the booth and within the building.

Items of special interest to HCW members:

  • Click here to sign up for your choice of times and dates:  HCW Fair Booth Sign-Up

  • Involvement is fun, informal, and rewarding. New members are especially encouraged to participate.  Woodturning expertise is not required.

  • A dedicated table will be set up in the booth for display of woodturned items.  Participants are encouraged to bring items to show and discuss with fairgoers.  These items should be taken home at the end of each shift.

  • New members should consider signing up alongside an experienced member who is familiar with booth activities.

  • Fair entry is free to HCW members who come to man the booth.  Simply explain your involvement to the gate attendant(s), who will be provided with a redacted membership listing for verification if needed.  This is rarely a problem.  Demonstrators will likely be carrying woodturning tools and wearing Club apparel.

  • Fair parking is free to everyone.

  • George Freeman provides wood for use in the booth. This wood is for use at the Fair, not to be taken home. Contact George for purchase of wood for personal use.

  • Sammy Thomason typically sets up a top-coloring station for kids, located between the HCW booth and walkway to the Creative Arts building.  This very popular activity helps pull in traffic to our booth.  Booth participants occasionally may be asked to assist Sammy with this.

Freedom Pens:

  • To maintain the supply, members are asked to each turn and finish at least one pen each time they work a shift.

  • Wood and supplies for the making of Freedom Pens will be provided in the booth.

  • Freedom Pens may be given to current or former military members, no proof required, by any HCW participant.  No pens will be for sale.

  • Refer to the Freedom Pen Community webpage for program and technical details.
