About the event

If you’ve ever had a blank slip, spin, or come off the lathe, this class is for you. Mounting wood is the foundation of every project, yet it’s easy to get wrong. This four-hour class walks through the methods most turners actually use: between centers, faceplates, screw chucks, glue blocks, four-jaw chucks, and jam chucks for reverse mounting and finishing. You’ll see how to cut proper tenons and recesses, when to add tailstock support, and how to choose a holding method that matches the wood and the project. We’ll also look at the common mistakes that lead to spin-outs or damaged work. The goal is practical skill you can use on the next project, not a catalog of every specialty chuck. By the end of the morning, you should be able to mount most blanks more securely and with less guesswork.
